Heavy brass mortar and pestle weighing a combined 6 pounds 6 ounces. The bottom of the mortar is marked with the number 8. The mortar has knobs on the sides and line decoration on the body. It measures 5 1/2 inches tall and 5 7/8 inches across the top. The pestle is 9 1/4 inches long. The piece has dark patination (including a slight amount of green on the rim) and much wear from many years of use. I have left the patina untouched. This set dating from the 18th century is a neat piece of medical history.
