Description
Offered is an antique European Porcelain Mortar and Pestle with a lovely floral motif and having the crossed arrow mark in black. It has a famille-rose like color palette and is trimmed in gold. The piece measures 3 ½ x 2 inches and the pestle, which is 3 inches has the unglazed tip for grinding. Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips nicks, or hairlines. I’m attributing the mark to Vincent Dubois (founded in 1773). The underside of the mortar has a distinctive makers mark with two crossed arrows [without arrow heads which is scarce with the feathers shown a mark used by Vincent Dubois founded in 1773 and obviously was more decorative than functional which also fits. European, unique and scarce it can not help but make a welcome addition to any tasteful decor or collection.
