    Description

Antique Brass Apothecary Mortar & Pestle From the Estate of Confederate Soldier, a Dentist, in the 15th Virginia Cavalry, Company E
I purchased a group of items several years ago that were from the estate of Private L. C. Tucker who served in the 15th Virginia Cavalry, Company E. Those items are currently listed on eBay (203242821810).
This mortar and pestle are the only items from that group not included in that eBay auction. According to the information I received when I purchased the items L.C. Tucker was a dentist in the cavalry. His military records indicated an alternate name, L. C. Trigger.
This mortar and pestle is consistent with mortars and pestles attributed to the Civil War years. It has wear consistent with it's use in making medicinal preparations.
    Mortar:
    4'' - tall
The top, measuring from the outer rim, is 5 1/8" across and the opening (the inside at the top) measures 4"
The diameter of the base is 4 1/4"
    Weight: 1 lb. 14.9 oz.
    Pestle:
    7 1/4" long
    Weight: 15.8 oz.
Weight of both mortar and pestle: 2 lb 14.7 oz.
I have attempted to be as accurate as possible with my measurements but please consider measurements to be approximations.
Please view all photographs as they are to be considered a part of my description.
The mortar and pestle will be shipped by priority mail and will be insured for the full purchase price.
Please note - Some packages are taking much longer than expected. That is a function of the post office and not something I can control.
