Antique 16th-17th c. Thick Cast Bronze Apothecary Mortar & Pestle, Ottoman Turkey
For your consideration is an early mortar & pestle set, cast of thick and heavy bronze
Both pieces original to each other
Characteristic, flanged form
Most likely pharmaceutical use but might've been a kitchen tool as well

irca 1500's/1600's, most likely Ottoman Turkish in origin, but by some chance it could be Moorish Spanish as well, since it was originally found in Florida long ago

Approx. 5" diameter (across) x 3.5" tall, the pestle is 6" long
Weighs about 3 lbs. 15 oz. altogether
Condition:
